Medical Schools Can’t Keep Up
As Ranks of Insured Expand, Nation Faces Shortage of 150,000 Doctors in 15 Years

Thenew Health Care Reform Bill has raised the stakes for hospitals and schoolsalready trying to figure out how they will train more doctors…and quickly. Expertsare warning that we will have a shortage of doctors and will not be able to treatthe millions of people newly insured under the new law. With our currentgraduation and training rates, America is looking at a possible shortage of asmany as 150,000 doctors in the next 15 years, according to the Association ofAmerican Medical Colleges.
