Missouri’s Democratic AG Opposes Health Care Law
Missouri’s Democratic Attorney General, Chris Koster
filed a brief last week opposing Washington’s massive health care reform law. The filing of the amicus brief doesn’t mean Missouri is joining the suit challenging the law, but public opposition to the law is significant in such a swing state. Furthermore, by weighing in, Koster has taken the bold step of publicly defying his own party on the issue.
Watch closely how Governor Jay Nixon (D-MO) and Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) react to this news. They’re both up for reelection next year and will have to walk a tightrope between defending their party’s expensive law and being reelected in a state where the law is unpopular.
